This time last year, the community celebrated the one-year anniversary of Emotes with a month-long program of activities and events celebrating expression in Decentraland. This year shifting the spotlight to a core element of digital identity, #DCLWearables, the Foundation is thrilled to launch All About Wearables!
Get ready for a Wearable contest showcasing Decentraland’s latest Exotic rarity (quantity of 50) and a schedule full of talks and creator highlights. Haven’t made a Wearable yourself yet? Now’s your chance! The goal of All About Wearables is to help anyone with an idea for a Wearable take their first leap into Wearable creation and make that idea a reality. Wearables in Decentraland
Wearables in Decentraland are more than just digital clothing; they represent the essence of self-expression, personal identity, and creativity. From the early days of limited avatar customization to today’s vibrant, community-driven digital fashion scene, Wearables have played a crucial role in shaping Decentraland’s culture and economy.
Wearables have become central to Decentraland’s culture, not just as fashion but as a means of connecting with others. Digital fashion shows, competitions, and themed events are key social activities, bringing the community together to celebrate creativity and style. Community creators have gained recognition, with some becoming well-known in the digital fashion world and form an active part of the platform’s economy with creators retaining 97.5% of their sales and royalties on secondary sales too!

Allowing users to completely customize their avatars from head to toe, Wearables cover much more than just articles of clothing. In Decentraland you can be anything you want to be, your true self—with whole skins, different body parts, hairstyles, and more, the options are limitless! All together, Wearables have empowered the Decentraland community to express their identities, connect with others, and create meaningful experiences.
Whether making a statement of identity, donning a costume for a party, or showing off a new look, Wearables are how Decentraland citizens take ownership of their unique digital identity. Over the next month, let’s celebrate Wearables and the magic they bring to our virtual social world!

The All About Wearables community contest will officially close at 7am UTC, but remember, to be considered for the contest, your Wearable should already be approved by the Curation Committee and published in the Marketplace. All About Wearables Community Contest
All About Wearables is a time for everyone in Decentraland to celebrate and explore creating Wearables, an essential component of digital identity in our virtual world. That includes those of you who’ve never created a Wearable before too! If you’ve always been interested in making your own Wearable but haven’t yet taken the leap, now’s your chance—with a 15k MANA prize pool up for grabs and full reimbursement of the publishing fee on your first submission, this contest is your opportunity to dip your toes in the waters of Wearable creation. So pay attention Wearable creators—seasoned and fresh—it’s time to get those brainstorms rumbling!
EXOtic: Wearables from Across the Galaxy
Recently, the new item rarity, Exotic, went live in Decentraland’s Marketplace as a result of a community Canny request from Nikki Fuego (learn more about rarities here!). Inspired by DCL’s latest rarity tier, the contest theme for All About Wearables will be EXOtic: Wearables from Across the Galaxy!
In search of the most EXOtic Wearables, we’re leaving orbit to explore extraterrestrial aesthetics. Draw inspiration from our vast cosmos of sparkling stars, colorful nebula mists, mysterious black holes, and undiscovered lifeforms. Think of elements that represent space exploration, alien cultures, or cosmic phenomena—anything that transcends the ordinary.
This theme challenges you to push the boundaries of creativity and bring futuristic visions to life in Decentraland. Let your imagination roam free across the universe and create something truly out of this world—the community can’t wait to see what you make!

Requirements
Your Wearable MUST: 1) be approved by the Curation Committee and published in the Marketplace by the contest deadline, 2) be of Exotic rarity, 3) be related to the EXOtic contest theme.
Prizes
Winners will be announced at the All About Wearables closing party, Sept. 19. Prizes and publishing fee reimbursements will be sent Sept. 20.
1st Place: 3,000 MANA
2nd Place: 2,500 MANA
3rd Place: 2,000 MANA
4th Place: 1,500 MANA
5th - 10th Place: 1,000 MANA per winning submission
Special Perk
To lower the entry barrier for new creators, each contest participant will be reimbursed the $100 USD publishing fee in MANA for their first contest submission. The exact amount of MANA will be determined by the value of MANA on the day of reimbursement.

How to Submit
To officially enter your Wearable into the contest, you must fill out the Contest Submission Form by the contest deadline, September 15, 2024, at 7am UTC.
Please note: To be considered, your Wearable must already be approved by the Curation Committee and be live in the Marketplace by the contest deadline. Publishing and approval can take a week or two, so don’t wait until the last minute to submit your Wearable for publishing!
Contest Guidelines
Submission: All entries must be submitted via the official contest form by the contest deadline, September 15, 2024, 7AM UTC.
Live in the Marketplace: Wearables must already be approved by the Curation Committee and published in the DCL Marketplace by the contest deadline to qualify.
Theme & Rarity Compliance: Entries must be of Exotic rarity and represent the contest theme.
One Prize Per Individual: Participants can win only one prize.
Prize Distribution: Prizes will be sent on Sept. 20, directly to the wallet that the submitted Wearable is registered to in the Marketplace.
Reimbursement Policy: A maximum of $100 USD worth of MANA will be refunded for the publishing fee of the first submission per individual. Refunds will be processed on Sept. 20.
Rights for Promotional Use: By entering, participants grant the Decentraland Foundation permission to use images of their Wearables in marketing materials and on social media.
