Technical updates – 31 Dec, 2019
The final round-up of releases, improvements and fixes from the Decentraland engine room for 2019
With another Creator Contest all wrapped up and very deserving winners announced, attention turns to the next big milestone on the Decentraland calendar (it’s gonna be a doozy!)
In the meantime, here’s the latest updates from the tech team:
dApps
- Testing setup of the Decentraland DAO with the Aragon team
- Deploying Builder-made interactive scenes to the world
World
- Player’s cursor now changes dynamically to indicate elements that are interactive. Working on adding support for developers to add custom text to these indications and to allow them to optionally disable them on an item
- Rarity of user’s collectibles is now readily visible in the Avatar menu
- Info (‘i’) button added to collectibles. Users can hover over it to see details
- Wearable collectibles can now have transparent and light-emitting materials
Platform
- Created a distributed content server that synchronizes content among several nodes. Now being extended to support the Profile and Wearables API
- Created a communication server that allows several peers to establish data connections between them in a P2P fashion. Now integrating into Explorer app
Happy New Year from all of us at Decentraland. Thanks for your support this year and we’ll see you in 2020. In the meantime, any questions or issues, hit us up on Discord.
