Open Calls: Create an Experience, Wearable, or Emote for Festive Trail

This December, Decentraland becomes a living advent calendar, a trail of surprises, generosity, and celebration unfolding from December 16 to January 6. Each day brings something new to discover somewhere in-world: interactive experiences, Wearables, and Emotes. Festive Trail is about more than the holidays; it’s about ideas that last long after the decorations come down—gifts that keep on giving.

Open Call 1: Pitch an Experience

Got an idea that could bring people together? Festive Trail invites the community to pitch ideas for 2x2 builds that are playful, meaningful, and built to last.

If selected, you’ll be awarded $100 USD in MANA and see your concept brought to life by a leading 3D studio. Or, if you’d like to build the experience yourself, you’ll receive $500 USD in MANA and a feature in the official festival program.

Ideas to explore:

  • Playful builds that reward exploration and creativity, such as mini-games, puzzles, or spaces that evolve over time. Think twists on classics like snakes and ladders, checkers, and Go

  • Interactive experiences that bring people together, such as sports, treasure hunts, or parkour challenges

  • Inspirational places that celebrate gratitude, creativity, or kindness

  • Spaces for your charity, group, or organisation to have their own presence in Decentraland—for example, a storytelling space or community garden

Awards:

If your idea is built by a studio:

  • $100 USD paid in MANA*

  • Your concept brought to life as a 2x2 interactive experience by a top Decentraland studio

  • The opportunity to name the final build after yourself or your chosen title

If you choose to build your idea yourself:

  • $500 USD paid in MANA*

  • Your build deployed on a 2x2 parcel in Decentraland’s Genesis City for 12 months

  • Your build featured in the official Festive Trail program

The winning selected experiences will be unveiled throughout Festive Trail, each one revealing a new surprise and a new reason to explore.

*MANA to the total value of $100 USD or $500 USD will be transferred to the web3 wallet of your choice. The MANA amount will be calculated from the exchange rate on Wednesday, December 17—the day of transfer.

Deadlines:

  • Proposal submission deadline: Sun, Nov 16, 11.59pm UTC

  • Selected proposals announced: Tues, Nov 19

  • Completed self-build submissions due: Tues, Dec 9, 2025

  • Final builds revealed during the Festive Trail: Dec 16, 2025 – Jan 6, 2026

Open Call 2: Design a Wearable or Emote

For creators, designers, and animators, Festive Trail is also a chance to gift something more personal. This open call invites proposals for Wearables or Emotes that capture the same theme: small digital gifts that people will love using all year round.

Ideas to explore:

  • Wearables that spark daily delight, such as cozy, fun, or unexpectedly useful items you’d want to wear every season

  • Emotes that feel like a shared moment in friendship

  • Community-centered concepts that encourage gifting or sharing

You don’t need to have created your Wearable or Emote yet, only a clear idea and a way to express it.

Awards:

  • $250 USD paid in MANA* to create your Wearable or Emote

  • A refund of the $100 USD in MANA* fee to publish your Wearable or Emote on the Decentraland Marketplace.

Ten proposals will be selected, with the finished pieces minted as ‘Rare’ and gifted to the community during Festive Trail.
