Halloweeks 2026: One Night of Halloween Was Never Going to Be Enough

By Decentraland, , in Announcements

Halloweeks is Decentraland's month-long celebration of the Halloween season, running October 5 to November 2, 2026. The Theatre hosts three free horror film series across four nights a week, and Genesis Plaza goes haunted with new quests. Starting October 19, the Cursed Pond fishing event offers limited-time Halloween rewards, including a Wearable. Creators can enter the Halloweeks Wearable Contest for a share of a 30,000 MANA prize pool, and the season peaks with a Halloween DJ party on October 27. Decentraland is a free virtual world where you play games and hang out with other adults online, from your computer or phone.

Here's everything happening this Halloweeks season, with dates and where to go.

All showtimes are in UTC. Check the Decentraland events calendar to set a reminder so you never miss a scream.

Genesis Plaza Gets Haunted

Starting October 5, Genesis Plaza is getting a spooky makeover. The heart of Decentraland is going dark for the season, with a Halloween atmosphere that makes every visit feel a little more eerie. It's the perfect backdrop for costume photos and meetups before movie night. It also makes a great first (slightly haunted) look at Decentraland for a friend.

But watch your back. Some new residents are moving in for the spooky season, and they might need your help with a few tasks. Complete them to earn haunted rewards. The haunted Plaza sticks around through November 2, so make sure to come by before it's gone.

Fish the Cursed Pond for Limited-Time Rewards

Something is stirring beneath the surface of the Genesis Plaza pond. From October 19 to November 2, cast your line in the Cursed Pond, a limited-time Halloweeks fishing event.

Reel in enough cursed fish and you can earn limited-time Halloween rewards, including a Wearable, available only during Halloweeks. Grab your rod and start fishing before the season slips away.

Haunted Games and Parties to Explore

Creators across Decentraland are giving their places a Halloween makeover. Each one is free to visit.

The Halloweeks Wearable Contest: 30,000 MANA Prize Pool

The Halloweeks Wearable Contest is open to every creator, whether this is your first Wearable or your fiftieth.

This season Decentraland is celebrating a big milestone. For the next six months, publishing a Wearable or Emote costs $5, down from $100, following a community governance proposal. To mark the moment, Decentraland is launching the Halloweeks Wearable Contest with a total prize pool of 30,000 MANA across six spooky categories.

Submissions open October 12 and close October 26, and every entry must be a published Wearable. Publishing review typically takes two to three days, so leave time before the October 26 deadline. Winners will be announced on October 27, ahead of Spooky Takeover Tuesday with Severus7. So start thinking about what kind of scary threads you want to create!

The Categories (5,000 MANA Each)

Each category has one winner, who receives 5,000 MANA. Prizes will be sent on October 28, directly to the wallet that the submitted Wearable is registered to in the Shop.

  • Slasher:

Honor the horror icons who've been stalking the screen for decades. The judges are looking for Wearables that feel like they walked straight out of a late-night slasher marathon. Think A Nightmare on Elm Street or Friday the 13th, inspired by the genre with original designs.

  • Costume:

Recapture the feeling of picking out your Halloween costume as a kid. Make the look people want to wear to a party or trick-or-treating in Genesis City. Vampires and pirates are fair game, and so are punny, playful or unexpected costumes that would win the office contest.

  • Most Cursed:

Some things just feel wrong. Make Wearables that leave people uneasy and a little afraid to look away. Haunted-videotape dread and hexed artifacts belong here, along with glitchy corrupted forms or objects that should come with a warning label. Mature, unsettling themes are welcome, as long as entries follow Decentraland's Content Policy.

  • Creature Feature:

Unleash the monster. Think classic werewolves and mummies, or a new type of beast that has yet to be discovered. Fur and fangs are encouraged, and so are scales.

  • Haunt Couture:

Bring the dark side to the runway. Think gothic glamour fit for the Met Gala, spooky with a high-fashion twist.

  • Folklore & Legends:

Every culture has its own myths, like Baba Yaga or the kitsune. Bring to life the legends you grew up hearing.
