Fueling the Flywheel: Decentraland’s 2025 Mid-Year Recap

By Decentraland, , in Announcements

The 2025 Manifesto set out a bold ambition: to ignite Decentraland’s community-driven flywheel. At the center of this vision is a simple principle—growth powered by people. As social interactions spark creativity, creators bring new experiences to life, and those experiences attract more people, and momentum builds. Each part—connection, content, and creation—reinforces the others, driving the platform toward long-term sustainability.

With the launch of the DCL 2.0 desktop client in late 2024, a new era began. The goal for 2025 wasn’t just technical advancement, but cultural ignition: encouraging habits, elevating voices, and creating meaningful opportunities for anyone to contribute, build, or participate.

Now, at the midpoint of the year, signs of motion are everywhere. Scenes are richer. Events are more interactive. New creators are publishing and iterating—and more people are showing up to see it all. Since January, millions have visited Decentraland’s web spaces, with over 2.3M unique visitors and 163K downloads of the new desktop client. The community is building—and the momentum is growing.

Here’s how far things have come—and what’s still to come.

Community Growth at the Core

Decentraland has recorded measurable growth across user engagement, builder activity, and economic participation. The platform’s focus on accessibility, creative tooling, and social connection continues to broaden its user base and deepen its ecosystem activity.

User Engagement and Session Quality

  • The average session duration is 45 minutes.

  • 62% of users log in via Web2 options; 37% via Web3 wallets, indicating wider accessibility beyond crypto-native audiences.

Active Creator Economy

The foundation of any thriving platform is its builders and in 2025, Decentraland’s creator ecosystem has gained practical momentum through new ways to earn, better tools, and more support for publishing. Below are the main upgrades and programs driving this activity.

Richer In-World Content

Decentraland’s in-world experiences in 2025 have been driven by events that activate fresh spaces and bring people together. Major highlights—including the Pride & PJ Party and Game Night—focused on revitalizing plazas and underused LAND with purpose-built scenes that showcase the potential of older parcels in new ways.

The Trail format, seen in the Live Music Trail and Builder Talent Trail, expanded this approach by moving beyond single locations. These map-wide activations encouraged LAND exploration, scene hopping, and emergent social moments, giving users more reasons to gather, discover, and connect.

Gaining Momentum Together

“Our role now is to keep lowering the barriers and widening the canvas, so more people can shape Decentraland in ways we haven’t even imagined yet.” — Yemel Jardi, Executive Director, Decentraland Foundation.

Decentraland’s community flywheel is in motion—creators are publishing, players are exploring, and scenes are coming to life in more interactive, rewarding ways. Each spoke is turning faster, reinforcing the ecosystem and inviting more people in.

But momentum isn’t just technical—it’s emotional. The true power of this platform lies in its people. Whether you're hosting an event, building a World, or just stepping into Genesis City for the first time, you’re part of something bigger: a more connected, expressive, and creative internet.

Let’s keep it going.
