Retrospective: an Art Week wrap-up

By Decentraland, Tue, 30 Jun 2020 03:00:01 GMT, in Announcements

10 days of artistic events, exhibitions, parties, debates and discussions have concluded. A blur of incredible artwork from dozens of artists, featured in brand new galleries, many purpose-built for the occasion.

By all accounts, from the hundreds of attendees that filed into Genesis City every day – claiming over 1500 PoAP NFTs in the process – Art Week was a resounding success. An enticing glimpse of the rich cultural calendar you can expect inside Decentraland.

Here’s a taste of just some of the highlights (including some you may have missed):

Exhibitions

Abner Harris at Unit G, The Art of NOI at DODI Gallery, Cryptopop at SuperRare and pretty much the whole of the amazing new Async gallery. Hackatao and Mr Monk creating live art on the Pixel Chain graffiti wall was another memorable moment.

Discussions

The AMA with Katy Arrington and Javier Arres provided fantastic insights for artists and art lovers alike. Josie Bellini’s Behind The Art podcast at her gallery in Crypto Gallery featured some brilliant guests. Her discussion with DCL Blogger was a highlight.

Music and Merriment

Aside from the cool after-parties (big shout out to Boombox and the Sugar Club), musical highlights included Vandal from DAO Records freestyling at the Mintbase party and, of course, Metaverse Productions debuting their Decentraland song at the Known Origin launch.

Random fun

It doesn’t get more random than VRGlit.ch ‘balancing’ the flying fish on the streets of Voltaire. And the skateboarding in Soho was just plain awesome.

Rewards for finding the 10 PoAPS

Over the coming days, Decentraland will be handing out the special SoHo Plaza NFT (lovingly created by Shibu) to everyone who collected the 10 PoAPS. Check it out below!

After the rewards are handed out, Decentraland will draw 1 LAND out between all the winners. Good luck!
