Explore the Redesigned Genesis Plaza, Your Launchpad Into Decentraland
By Decentraland, , in About Decentraland
The new Genesis Plaza has been redesigned to be a clearer, more welcoming starting point for anyone stepping into Decentraland, but also a richer community space for people to spend time together. As the world has evolved, it became clear that players needed a place that not only looked great but also made it easy to understand where to go, what to explore, and how to connect with others from the very beginning.
The updated plaza brings everything closer together, introduces gentle guidance, and highlights the activity happening across Decentraland in real time. It also adds a variety of new hangout spots that make it easy to gather, meet new people, or join in on something fun. The goal is simple: help new players find their bearings quickly, discover what’s possible, and feel part of the world from day one.
With a more intuitive layout, lively social spaces, and interactive moments woven throughout, the new Genesis Plaza sets the tone for what Decentraland is about: discovery, creativity, and belonging.
Landmarks sit within immediate view. Activities are placed right on the main pathways. Message boards highlight what’s happening across the world right now. There’s no empty space or guesswork, only a clear, welcoming launchpad into the wider world.
What You’ll Find Inside the New Plaza
Landing Area and Central Hub
You arrive in a bright, square-style plaza that works as the social heart of Genesis City. A firepit sits at the centre with benches arranged around it, giving you an immediate place to gather, chat, or meet new people.
Around the hub, clear message boards highlight everything happening across Decentraland at a glance, including Decentraland Updates, the full Event Schedule, Live Events, Upcoming Events, and a rotating Community Photo Mural that spotlights moments shared by the community.
Game Arena
The Game Arena is a colourful multiplayer zone built for quick competition and group activities. It’s designed for jumping into fast mini games with others and spectating. As you walk toward the arena, you’ll pass two familiar favorites—Minesweeper and Chemical Clash—both positioned just outside the Game Arena.
Decentraland Theatre
The Theatre is a large open venue with plush seating, big screens, and a stage setup ready for shows, broadcasts, and community gatherings. A Focus Mode lets you zoom into the screen for an uninterrupted view, making it ideal for watching events together.
DCL Store
The DCL Store is the plaza’s fashion hub, packed with trending, newest, and featured Wearables and Emotes from the Decentraland Marketplace. Your avatar appears instantly in the Wearable and Emote displays, giving an extra dimension to browsing the Store. A small runway sits at the center of the space; you can choose to walk the runway by clicking on a featured Wearable or Emote, then pressing the ‘Show Your Style’ button.
Nekko Café
Nekko is a cosy café with a Japanese touch, marked by its giant smiling cat perched above a teacup. The counter is lined with stools where you can sit, pause, and take in the plaza around you.
Decentraland Newsroom
The Newsroom is a welcoming space where you can catch up on the latest Decentraland blogs, community updates, and past Community All-Hands. It’s designed as both an information hub and a calm place to sit, watch, and stay in the loop.
Hall of Fame
The Hall of Fame highlights standout community members across various categories, including Creator of the Month, Player of the Month, Builder of the Month, and Friendliest Player. Each trophy display features the winning avatar, making it a lively showcase of community achievements.
Additional Features
Go to Crowd
A new Go to Crowd button makes it easy to find where everyone is hanging out. One click teleports you to the most active spot in Decentraland, helping both new and returning players connect instantly.
Airdrop Drones
While exploring the plaza, you may spot small airdrop drones hovering nearby. If you interact with one, you’ll receive a surprise gift delivered straight to your backpack. There are several hidden around the plaza, turning your first minutes in Decentraland into a small treasure hunt.
Try It for Yourself
The new Genesis Plaza brings clarity, energy, and direction to your first moments in Decentraland. It’s designed to help you explore confidently, meet people quickly, and discover the experiences that make the world come alive.
