Decentraland Worlds: Your Place Online
By Decentraland, , in About Decentraland

Decentraland Worlds are your own personal 3D space to hang out, host events, and build—all you need is a Decentraland NAME.
What is a Decentraland World?
Your Instagram profile isn't really a space. Neither is your X feed. They're flat pages on the internet—and they're not really yours. If the platform closes, they're gone.
A Decentraland World is different. It's a three-dimensional space that belongs to you, lives on a decentralized network, and can't be taken down. You decide what happens there: who gets in, what it looks like, and what it's for.
Worlds exist separately from Genesis City, Decentraland's open-world map of LAND parcels. That makes them more accessible: there's no limited supply, no coordinates to buy. Anyone with a Decentraland NAME gets one.
Hang Out and Host Events
The simplest thing to do with a World is show up in it with other people.
Worlds hold up to 100 concurrent visitors, which is enough for most gatherings, such as a movie night, a community meetup, or a party. You can list events on Decentralands Events so people can find them, or keep it low-key and share a direct link with whoever you want there. The most-visited Genesis Plaza scenes and Worlds each month are featured on the Top Scenes Dashboard, a live leaderboard of where people are actually spending time, so if your World draws a crowd, it gets noticed.
What makes it feel different from a video call or a Discord stage is the space itself. People arrive, move around, and exist somewhere together. That changes the texture of an event in ways that are hard to describe until you've experienced it.
Build Your Own Space
If you want to shape what your World looks like, you can, with as much or as little technical knowledge as you have.
Ready-to-use scene templates let you deploy a complete, furnished space in minutes. There's the Stream Studio for broadcasts, the Team Hub for Q&A sessions, the Party Pad, and more atmospheric options like the Spooky House for seasonal events or the Cozy House for smaller gatherings. You can access the templates via the Creator Hub or access the code.
If you'd rather build from scratch—or start from a template and personalize it from there—the Creator Hub includes a drag-and-drop editor that needs no coding knowledge. For those who want full control, the SDK lets you build anything you can imagine.
Worlds have no parcel limitations, so your scene can be as large as your storage allows. You can also test scenes in your World before deploying them to Genesis City, which makes it a useful development sandbox as well as a destination in its own right.
Multi-Scene Worlds
A World can go beyond a single scene. World Owners can enable Multi-Scene mode, which allows multiple scenes to exist across different parcels within the same World, each one manageable independently.
This opens up collaborative building. A World Owner can invite Collaborators and assign them deploy rights to specific parcels or to the World as a whole. Different creators can each work on their own area, while the World Owner maintains overall control of settings and permissions.
The World's size adapts automatically as scenes are added or removed.
Private Worlds
By default, Worlds are public, and accessible to anyone with the link. But you can change that.
World Owners can restrict access in two ways. Password protection lets anyone with the password enter. Invitation only restricts access to a specific list of wallet addresses, which can be added individually or imported in bulk via CSV.
There's also a community option worth knowing about. If there's an existing Decentraland Community whose members are exactly the crowd you want in your World, you can add that community directly to your approved list, without needing to know every individual wallet address or keep updating the list as new people join.
This makes Worlds a practical option for private events, community spaces, internal team meetings, or anything else you'd rather not leave open to the public.
How to Access a World
If you're already in Decentraland, the quickest way to jump to a World is through the in-world chat:
Open the chat box
Type /goto NAME(replacing NAME with the World's Decentraland NAME)
Press Enter
If you want to share a World with someone outside of Decentraland, send them a direct link in this format:
https://decentraland.org/jump/?realm=NAME.dcl.eth
Clicking the link will take them directly into the World if they already have Decentraland installed. If not, they'll be prompted to download it first.
How to Get a World
Every Decentraland NAME comes with a World. A NAME costs 100 MANA and also gives you a unique username and 100 VP (Voting Power) to participate in Decentraland's governance. If the name you want has already been claimed, you can find it secondhand on the Marketplace.
For NAME holders, storage is dynamic: each NAME grants 100 MB, each LAND parcel adds another 100 MB, and every 2,000 MANA in your wallet adds a further 100 MB. If you own multiple Worlds, that storage pool is shared across all of them.
Building Without Code
No coding background? The Creator Hub is the place to start.
The built-in drag-and-drop editor lets you place, move, and arrange scene elements without writing a line of code. If you'd rather not build from scratch, deploy one of the ready-made templates and customize from there.
For more complex or specific builds, Decentraland Studios is a verified registry of professional creators available for commission, from scene design to full event production.
If you do have coding skills, the SDK gives you complete creative freedom.
And if you're somewhere in between—curious about code but not a developer—vibe coding is worth trying. Tools like Cursor or the Claude plugin for VS Code are now powerful enough that you don't need to understand the code being generated. Open your Creator Hub project, click the Code button to open the editor inside your scene, write a prompt describing what you want, and iterate from there. You don't need to read the output, you just need to test it.

If you outgrow your World, you can migrate your scene to Genesis City. You can also start on LAND and keep a World as a private or experimental space alongside it.
