10 Fun Things to Do in Decentraland When You’re Not at an Event
By Decentraland, , in About Decentraland

Decentraland isn’t just about big parties and headline events—it’s a whole world that’s alive 24/7. Whether you’re here for five minutes or five hours, there’s always something unexpected to stumble across. If you’re wondering what to do next, here are 10 things to do in Decentraland that make wandering off the beaten path worth it.

Wander (Or Run) Through Genesis City

Sometimes the best thing to do in Decentraland is… nothing specific at all. Just open your map (hit the “M” on your keyboard), pick a random spot in Genesis City, and start walking or running! (To run, hold down the Shift key as you move.)
Genesis City has over 90,000 parcels and is always changing. One moment you’re passing neon storefronts in Aetheria, the next you’re lost in a tiny hidden temple, stumbling into a pop-up art gallery, or discovering someone’s parkour course floating overhead. You’ll run into UGC games, unusual builds, hidden skyboxes, or places that feel like secrets waiting to be found.
Next time you find something cool—a hidden alley, an offbeat plaza, a giant sculpture no one talks about, snap a screenshot and share it as a postcard on X. Tag @decentraland, drop the coords, and invite someone else to find it too.

Complete the Daily Gaming Quest for Wearables

If you look at the top left corner of your screen in Decentraland, you’ll often see a Gaming Quest box pop up—just like in the screenshot above. This little panel shows your daily challenges and the Wearable reward you’ll get if you finish them before the timer runs out.
For example, today’s tasks might be things like:
Reach 5 steps on Recall Rush
Score 2,500 points on Color Pop
Hit 10,000 points on Salad Slash
To play, open your map, look for the treasure chest pins, and jump into each mini-game from there. They’re quick, casual games designed to be easy to try—but finishing all three can feel like a real achievement (and yes, you get to keep that new jacket, hat, or Emote forever).
So next time you log in and think “what should I do?”—start with the daily quest. It’s a built-in reason to roam.
Play Games Scattered Across Genesis City

If you finish the daily Gaming Quest and want to keep playing, Decentraland is full of casual UGC games that are dotted around the map—you just have to know where to look.
The best way to find them is right in the Map View—click the map icon on the left side of your screen. From there, click Game at the top to filter. You’ll see lots of pins pop up, each one is a community-built game you can jump into. Some favorites include Tile Tally, Word Search, and Meta GamiMall.

Visit Virtual Art Galleries—and Admire the Builds Themselves

Rapture Art Gallery (-88, -64)
One of the best things about wandering around Decentraland is how easy it is to stumble into an art gallery—and each one is completely unique.
If you open the Map View, you’ll find an Art filter at the top. Tap it, and watch the map fill up with pins—each one is a different gallery or creative build waiting to be explored. Community favorites are Casa Roustan (37, -114), The Gallery (78, -105), or Rapture Art Gallery (-88, -66).
But the beauty isn’t just on the walls. Many of these spaces are installations themselves— immersive rooms, interactive sculptures, neon lights, music, or even whole worlds built to make you feel something. Get started with CASADEI Space Project (-117, -49).
Play Chess—Solo, With Friends, or Against a Bot

If you love chess, Decentraland has you covered—you can play classic chess in-world thanks to ChessLand, a virtual over-the-board chess experience that works just like sitting down at a real park table.
There are dedicated chess spots across Decentraland, including:
Chess in the Park (5,105): This is the main chess hub where tournaments happen. When there’s no tournament, the six boards here are open for anyone to play.
Chess Play (1,101): Another popular open-play area with six more boards, perfect for casual matches or testing your skills against a bot.
To jump in: open your chat box and type /goto 5,105 or /goto 1,101—or just click these coordinates on the Map View. Walk up to a board that says Ready to Play, pick your side, and start your match.
You can:
Play Solo, moving both sides for puzzles or practice.
Play PvP, facing another person—set your own time control and decide if it’s a rated game.
Play a Bot, picking from beginner (Opie-Bot, ~300 Elo) all the way up to advanced (Hunter-Bot, ~2000 Elo).
Connect with other chess fans through the ChessLand Discord—a great place to find an opponent or join a tournament.
Beginner tip: Take a minute to switch to First Person View (V key) and make sure you’re in Interaction Mode to click on pieces smoothly.
Try a Parkour Challenge—Test Your Skills & Find Secrets

Crash Site (-58, -65)
If you’re in the mood for something active, Decentraland has a few creative parkour builds that turn the virtual world into a jump-and-climb playground. Two standout spots to try:
Crash Site by PepeGawd (-58, -65): A crashed alien craft turned into a climbing puzzle where you can race your friends to see who can find the path to the top first. Miss a jump? No worries—fall, respawn, and try again.
Space Elevation by Stom (-68, -65): A massive Space Elevator stretching skyward. Your goal: make your way to the very top. But there’s a twist—keep an eye out for strange diversions and hidden tunnels. Finding them all is half the fun.
So you think you can do parkour (99,36) by goblintown: A colourful grid of floating cubes high above the street—each jump tests your timing and balance. It’s a tough one, so keep your patience!
Parkour scenes can be really social spots, too. Bring a friend, take turns racing, or hang out on a ledge and watch newcomers figure out the jumps you just nailed.
Explore Ambient Scenes—Find Corners to Chill

Geckos on the Beach (-77, 47)
Not everything in Decentraland has to be a quest or a game. Sometimes the best way to spend time here is to just exist somewhere beautiful, strange, or surprising. These ambient scenes are perfect for quiet wandering, daydreaming, or snapping a few photos to remember your trip.
Here are a few standout spots worth exploring:
Aetheria Fractus Club (110, 107): A slice of the cyberpunk district. Neon lights, rooftop edges, moody vibes.
BitBears World (130, 135): A cool hangout with fun visuals—part gallery, part social spot.
Roustan Cove (-111, 142): The line between paradise and technology. Relax, unwind, open your mind by the sea.
Golum in the Wild (-99, 48): A huge green space full of temples and a giant dragon. Perfect for aimless roaming.
Web3ffliates Maza (-63, 112): A creative maze to wander through if you’re up for a mindful little challenge.
Geckos on the Beach (-77, 47): Colorful umbrellas, beach chairs, a ferris wheel, and laid-back summer energy—perfect for a sunset photo or an hour doing nothing.
ABC Clubhouse (-31, -27): Home base for the ABC Decentraland crew. Pop by to chill and have casual chats or join them every Saturday at 11PM UTC for an adventure.
Customize Your Avatar—Refresh Your Look

Sometimes the simplest thing you can do in Decentraland is also the most personal: give your avatar a whole new vibe. Maybe you feel different today—braver, stranger, softer—so why not look the part?
Head to the Backpack in the top-right menu (or hit “I” on the keyboard) to swap Wearables you already own. Mix up outfits, layer on new Emotes, or switch out a single detail, just to see how it feels.
Want more options? Open the Marketplace, filter by Wearables, and you’ll find everything from everyday streetwear to wild costumes, wings, masks, or full avatar skins. Some items are free, many cost just a bit of MANA, and there’s always something unexpected to discover.
The fun part is that a fresh outfit isn’t just for you—it’s a conversation starter. People notice. Compliments happen. Sometimes a whole new friend starts with “Where did you get that?”
Roleplay—Free Your Imagination or Dive Into an RPG
Soul Magic Angkor Temple (111, -102)
Roleplay in Decentraland can mean a lot of things and that’s the fun of it. Sometimes it’s as simple as putting on a wild avatar and slipping into character with whoever’s nearby. Other times, it’s about stepping into a full RPG world where your actions shape the story.
Freeform Roleplay
Throw on a dragon skin, pirate coat, or robot mask. Wander Genesis City and react in character—make up your own little story as you go. Many players do casual RP in ambient scenes, plazas, or themed districts. All you need is your imagination and someone willing to play along.
Structured RPG
If you’d rather have quests, battles, and lore, Decentraland has dedicated RPG-style games too. Here are two standouts:
Soul Magic (96,-110): A magical-themed RPG where you collect, battle, and grow your power. You’ll find quests, spells, and a whole story to unfold with other players.
Knights of Antrum (144,-7): A medieval-fantasy adventure—join as a knight, explore dungeons, fight monsters, and level up. Perfect if you want more structure than casual wandering.
Build Something with The Creator Hub—Big or Small
Ever looked around Decentraland and thought, “This place needs my random idea”? Good news! You can bring it to life.
The Creator Hub is Decentraland’s all-in-one tool for building your own scene, game, gallery, or secret hideout. You don’t need to code, just start with templates and props, drag and drop what you like, and add your own twist.
When you’re ready to publish, you’ll need somewhere to put it. Here’s how that works:
Get a NAME: This is like your personal domain inside DCL. Once you have a NAME, you can create a World tied to it.
Create a World: Think of a World as your own private mini-DCL. You can deploy your build there and invite people in, no LAND required.
Or Buy LAND: If you want your build to live inside Genesis City, you can buy a LAND parcel (or rent one) and deploy it there for everyone to stumble across.
So next time you have an idea—funny, beautiful, or completely pointless—open the Creator Hub and see what happens.
